Poster Project
Project Details:
- You have been hired by a client to create an advertising flyer to promote a special event such as a concert, movie premier, play performance, poetry reading, youth party, open-mike night etc. The flyer is to be distributed and hung around the community to encourage a wide variety of people to support the event.
-
It will be up to you as a designer to determine what textual details and graphics to include in your completed flyer.
- For top marks, you need to create two versions of your flyer that are targeted at different customer groups and designed to promote the interests and goals of at least two of the co-sponsoring organizations. In other words, each of the co-sponsors has their own unique objectives and target audience. Each wants you design a customized flyer especially for their organization to distribute.
-
If you lack ideas, you might want to create a flyer that includes information garnered (taken) from the following press release:
-
"The Association of Bluegrass Music Lovers invites you to attend the 5th Annual Bluegrass Festival and Dance Contest on Friday, September 26th, 7pm - 10pm at Grant Park, 2011 York Road, Springfield, California. Tickets are $10 each for children under 13, $12 for students with proper id, and $14 for adults. All proceeds will be donated to the Young Musicians Scholarship Fund."
-
In addition, the event is co-sponsored by three local organizations.
- The Association of Blue Grass Music Lovers — their objective is to promote local interest in Bluegrass Music and to gain membership for their organization. They will distribute the flyers throughout the city with a particular focus at bus stops, Skytrain stations, music schools, community theaters, and the community at large.
- The Young Musicians Scholarship Fund — their objective is to promote youth interest in music and to raise money so that they can sponsor more young musicians' studies. They will distribute flyers through parent groups and at school-related concerts, dances, and band practices at the elementary, high school, and college level.
-
The Springfield Parks and Recreation Board — their objective is to encourage public use of park facilities and to encourage a sense of neighborhood pride and community. They will distribute flyers amongst local businesses and at community facilities and institutions.

- If you choose not to do this assignment based on the "Bluegrass" scenario, you must create a press release similar to that outlined above stating the basic information and the 3 co-sponsors of your event.
